Fairmont Hot Springs Resort has 143 guest rooms. To clean all those rooms in the peak season our staff numbers increase dramatically. We employ students going back to high school, college, and university. Also we employ people that come to learn English as a second language. These employees come from places like Chile, Honduras, Russia, Moldova, Australia, Taiwan, Japan, Hungary, Brazil, Portugal, and Korea. They come to work for a few months and to share their culture with us, and we share ours with them.
Learning from our staff about their home countries is one of the most enjoyable parts of working with such a diverse team.
- Moldova, officially the Republic of Moldova (Moldovan and Romanian: Republica Moldova pronounced [reˈpublika molˈdova]) is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe, located between Romania to the west and Ukraine to the north, east and south. It declared itself an independent state with the same boundaries as the preceding Moldovan SSR in 1991, as part of the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
- Honduras is a republic in Central America. It was formerly known as Spanish Honduras to differentiate it from British Honduras (now Belize). The country is bordered to the west by Guatemala, to the southwest by El Salvador, to the southeast by Nicaragua, to the south by the Pacific Ocean at the Gulf of Fonseca, and to the north by the Gulf of Honduras, a large inlet of the Caribbean Sea. Honduras was home of several important indigenous cultures, mostly notably the Maya. Much of the country was conquered by Spain who introduced its predominant language and many of its customs in the sixteenth century. It became independent in 1821 and has been a republic since the end of Spanish rule. Its size is just over 112,000 km² with an estimated population of almost eight million. Its capital is Tegucigalpa. Its northern portions are part of the Western Caribbean Zone. It is notable for its production of minerals, tropical fruit, and recently for exportation of clothing for the international market.
- Hungary, officially the Republic of Hungary, is a landlocked country in Central Europe. It is situated in the Pannonian Basin and it is bordered by Slovakia to the north, Ukraine and Romania to the east, Serbia and Croatia to the south, Slovenia to the southwest and Austria to the west. The capital and largest city is Budapest. Hungary is a member of the European Union, NATO, the OECD, the Visegrád Group, and is a Schengen state. The official language is Hungarian, which is part of the Uralic family and is the most widely spoken non-Indo-European language in Europe. Hungary is one of the thirty most popular tourist destinations of the world, attracting 8.6 million tourists per year (2007). The country is home to the largest thermal water cave system and the second largest thermal lake in the world (Lake Hévíz), the largest lake in Central Europe (Lake Balaton), and the largest natural grasslands in Europe (Hortobágy).
We have a wonderful team who all bring something special to the Resort ... and as always we all work hard to provide our guests with the best possible stay.
