Thank you to the Bavin family for this Blog post. Bavin Glassworks is opening soon at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort.
The Bavin family is returning to Fairmont, not as a Ski Rental Shop Operation (1979-1991) but instead as artists with their business known as Bavin Glassworks. The Bavin’s love funky little cabins of great local history to shelve local and regional talents of glass, clay and metal. A classic “1923 original cabin” between the Lodge and the Hot Pool is going to become the new Bavin Glass Fairmont location. This new location shall be the home base for creative ventures such as beadmaking classes, jewelry assembly and outdoor painting/sketch adventures.
The Gallery opens on June 22nd and will operate 7 days a week from 11am to 7pm through the summer until September 30th. Schedules for beadmaking classes and sketching trips shall be available for booking soon.
Our main Gallery and Hotshop where we blow glass is located next to the new Canadian Tire in Invermere. We are a family run business representing 25 artists which includes Bonnie (the mom) and her unique jewelry, Pat (the dad), who is a painter and semi-retired glassblower, and Ryan (the son), who is the master glassblower and photographer. Ryan is running the Hotshop from mid-May through Early July for people interested in watching the process. He will be working Thursday through Monday during this time and can be viewed between 10 or 11am (depending on the day) until around 12:30 or 1pm. Check out our Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/bavinglass for up to date info on what’s happening! Currently Bavin Glassworks in Invermere is open Thursdays through Mondays from 11am until 5pm. Except for Saturday, which is open 10am to 5pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm.
We are excited to serve all of our many Fairmont Guests and Owners who we have met over the years with a closer to home attraction!
