Winter Sports

After a season of powder, powder and more powder, the Fairmont Hot Springs Ski Area is now closed. We look forward to seeing you on the mountain again in December 2012.

The Columbia Valley is on the warm side of the Rockies; here temperatures can be 10-15 degrees milder than those on the Alberta side of the mountains. Fairmont Hot Springs Resort and the surrounding area is an irresistible winter destination, a place to turn the winter blues in to the winter yahoos!

Fairmont Hot Springs is the Powder Highway Base Camp. The family-friendly runs of the Fairmont Hot Springs Ski Area are ideal for beginners and for seasoned down-hillers eager to fine-tune their skills. Four world-class winter resorts — Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, Panorama Mountain Village, Kimberley Alpine Resort, and Fernie Alpine Resort — are only a short drive (30 to 120 minutes) drive from Fairmont Hot Springs.

Fairmont Hot Springs has expanded it's winter programs to take advantage of one of British Columbia`s best winter recreation areas. At the Ski Area, Aquafina SnowPlanet has been further improved and is the best place in the Columbia Valley to learn how to ski or board. Built around a magic carpet, learning becomes fun on SnowPlanet, with alien-faced flags and cushions set up to help the little ones master the concept of riding on snow. We also added the Rockstar Terrain Park to help those intermediate skiers and boarders fine-tune their skills and work on their airtime.

Our ski area is one of the best places to learn to ski in BC, so go on, be better, and take a lesson.

The mountains also beckon nordic skiers, snowshoers, and snowmobilers, while the frozen surfaces of Lake Windermere and the famous Whiteway are perfect for skating and hockey on one of the biggest ponds you`ll ever play. Our guides at B.C. Rockies Adventures have a wide array of other activities to enjoy during the snowy months. From winter hiking to geocaching and bird watching, the team can help you discover the great outdoors.
